This week is Mental Health Awareness week and it couldn’t be more important to talk about this. I have suffered from depression and it’s hit my family hard over the years. So, it’s very apt that this week I’m sharing my Retreat projects because crafting has helped me cope more times than I can count. It takes me out of myself and I’ve learnt that many others also use crafting to help with their mental health.

The biggest blessing I’ve found is that I can share my love of card making with others and help them get away from the world for a while. As a result they leave my classes feeling happier and with a clearer mind. Letting something creative take over your mind, while you chat with friendly people is the best feeling! It’s because of the community we create with our crafting that makes my classes such happy places. Consequently we help people who are feeling down to feel better. My classes are filled with positivity, laughter and relaxation. It’s really hard for you to feel down at class or Retreat! Isn’t that the best gift I can give to you?

Improving Mental Health with Floral Romance

The colour for Mental Health Awareness is green, so it’s very good that my Retreat colours match! This beautiful card is one of our special projects. It’s a large square card for someone’s special birthday! It does take a little longer to make, but don’t you think it’s worth it?

The gorgeous edging piece from the Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies makes the Pear Pizzazz just pop from the Fresh Fig card base.

I mixed in the Painted Glass bundle too for the sentiment and die cut elements. I LOVE that you can mix and match sets like this. Stampin’ Up! is known for coordination of colours, paper and embellishments. Similarly they bring coordination with their stamps, dies and embossing folders. Sometimes we forget that!

Crafting At Home

Did you know that crafting at home also gives you mental health benefits? Oh yes, it’s true, because it gives you the chance to get away from everything whenever you want. When you immerse yourself in crafting you shut out the world and give your head time to breathe. That’s why I’m so happy to sell the Stampin’ Up! products too.
