Like what you see?

Pretty Cards and Paper International Blog Hop TeamWhoo hoo, time to join this amazing group of international demonstrators for this month’s hop. This month’s theme features Scalloped Notecards. I love these little cards, you get 20 cards and 20 envelopes in each pack, 5 of each colour. So, these are great value for money. They also give you a colour base instantly, which means you can get started straight away.

Pretty Cards and Paper – Scalloped Notecards

So, for this set of notecards I added the Back On Your Feet stamp set and pretty much all of my Stitched layering dies!

Using background stamps directly onto your notecards allows you to create depth to your card base. Here I use Crackle Paint and Birch. Use tone on tone ink to get a great looking background. You could also go a shade of ink darker if you prefer. Compare each of the cards and see how the backgrounds have been chosen with the animal in mind! The sloth looks like he’s in a tree and the turtle looks like he’s in the sea! It’s so easy to match up backgrounds with the main focus point of your card.

For the giraffe I decided to use the crackle paint because it looks a bit like the patches on their fur. I love the sentiment and how it coordinates with the knot in his neck! A great play on words there. I also decided to use the Grapefruit Grove card stock to give a bit of a lift and punch to the sentiment piece.

Sentiment Only Card

You might have spotted that there are only 3 animals in the set, but I had to make 4 cards. What to do? I grabbed the sentiments and made a card out of them alone! The crackle paint adds the background texture, combined with the layering stitched circle dies you can easily fill the front of the card. I think it makes a great card for anyone who has had an accident or even broken up with someone!

Finishing with my favourite, the turtle on his back. I love his expression and you could use this card for lots of reasons. Typically it would be for someone who was poorly, but it could also apply to someone down on their luck in their working / home life. I think given this little chap it would cheer me up considerably, just to know someone was thinking of me! Don’t you think these scalloped notecards are fun?
