Pretty Cards and Paper International Blog Hop TeamWhoo hoo, time to join this amazing group of international demonstrators for this month’s hop. So this month we are showcasing the Come Sail Away papers and, while this paper has a nautical theme, I felt I’d done a lot with boats already. I wanted to do something different! Looking at pictures and documentaries about travelling I realise they all have 1 thing in common, luggage. Whether you love it or hate it, we all need something to take our belongings in wherever we go. The wonderful old newsprint paper from the pack decided me, I had to make a Bon Voyage card that looked like an old suitcase!!

So, how do you make a card look like a piece of luggage? For starters I based my design on an old fashioned suitcase, with leather corners and brass studs. I found a photo on the internet and made sure I got those corners right. Using Crumb Cake card for the base, and adding some scuff marks with a sponge and some ink I then added the corners in Soft Suede. Punch a 2″ circle and cut into quarters. These form the corners attached with Metallic Brads. All the good old suitcases are held together with string and a small lock, which of course needs a key!

Stuck all over with labels you know this person has travelled the world! And inside? Of course, all good luggage has posh lining. In this case my favourite piece of paper from the pack. Balmy Blue stripes, I’m sure my sister had a pair of pyjamas in that exact colour and stripe!

New Trio of Tags Dies

Are you wondering where all those labels came from? Well, some I cut by hand from the newspaper print sheet of paper, and some come from the coordinating memories and more pack. But the largest label is cut with a new set of dies called Trio of Tags which seemed very appropriate.  You will love them and the new coordinating stamps when the new catalogue goes live 4th Sept. There is also a sneak peek of the Wonderful Time dies for the sentiment label! Another must have in September.
