It’s Monday, it’s time for By Royal Appointment: Christmas Rustic Retreat is the theme chosen by this week’s teamie!
Each week I feature one of my wonderful team of Royal Stampers, all Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who love to share their creativity with others. I love seeing what they create and I wanted to share it with you all too, so, each week I will be welcoming a different designer from our amazing team. This week our guest designer is Sara Sayers and all the details of this post can be found here which will also link to Sara’s website so you can look at her other beautiful creations.
Christmas Rustic Retreat
I love Christmas! In fact I would go so far to say I love everything that relates to the event, with one little exception. I really hate the cold! So our celebrations are usually spent travelling abroad in some far flung country once the big day starts to loom. That means I have to start my Christmas card preparations really early. My class attendees are always keen to start planning as well so, a few years ago I started incorporating seasonal cards in July. I know it’s probably a little early for most, but we love it!
So, where to start when you have so many gorgeous stamp sets to choose from? As soon as I saw the Rustic Retreat I knew this was a must have set. It has some great images and fabulous sentiments. Suitable for so many occasions and great for those tricky male cards too. I just adore the quote from AA Milne. Isn’t it motivational?
So onto the card…………. I wanted a rustic colour scheme to complement the set so I went straight to the Neutral colour family and chose:
Background Interest
The current Annual Catalogue doesn’t have any Christmas designer series (patterned) papers at the moment, but I don’t let that stop me! Two of our fabulous dynamic embossing folders – Pinewood Planks and Corrugated create layers of texture and interest.
The tag is made using the Stitched Nested label dies and then I stamped the images and added a little Wink of Stella to the foliage and trees. Its tricky to see on the photos, but it really does make all the difference. To finish off I added a rustic bow to keep on theme using four strands of the linen thread secured with a mini glue dot.
Inside the card I added this beautiful sentiment and some foliage. Doesn’t it look pretty?
Compared to many shop bought cards, this one certainly ticks more of my boxes! You can choose different colours of course, but I love the traditional ones Sara has chosen here.
