We Did It! We achieved our Birthday Wishes Charity Challenge! What am I talking about? Well as you may know Stampin’ Up! has a long history of supporting philanthropic causes. ‘Helping others’ and ‘making a difference’ is part of their mission statement. This year Stampin’ Up! UK are excited to be celebrating their 10th anniversary, and so they challenged us (all the UK demonstrators) and themselves to work with our customers to make a whopping 10,000 cards across two card-making weekends in 2017. These cards will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. This past weekend was the first event and demonstrators across the country took part in a weekend of creative fun all for an amazing charity.
Birthday Wishes Charity Challenge
I set myself a challenge to get 100 cards made with the help of my amazing customers over 2 crafting sessions of 2 hours each! Plus customers crafted at home on Friday & Saturday to donate a further stash! And we did it! We hit our target of 100, in fact we topped out at 125 birthday cards!!! Whoop whoop – such a huge thank you to all of you who took part! A special card class is a great way to help charity but also have fun too. In each class, everyone makes 2 of each of 4 card designs, 4 to keep and 4 to donate. That’s what I call a win win event! Of course because we were doing a Birthday Wishes Charity Challenge, I felt we needed balloons, a banner & lots of cake! Here’s a few shots from the weekend’s events! I must get a Selfie stick!!
Do you know that there is a Ronald MacDonald House Charity stamp set? Purchase this set and £2 goes straight to the charity here in the UK, this money enables them to build more homes for the families of sick children. You can purchase the set called Sharing Sweet Thoughts by clicking here. I’m happy to report 3 of my lovely customers also purchased the set this weekend! Ronald MacDonald House Charities provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families while their child is in hospital. There are 14 Ronald McDonald Houses across the UK, all located close to specialist children’s hospitals. The Houses are open 365 days a year and are equipped with everything you would find in a family home. Families can get a good night’s sleep, prepare their own meals and feel at home, knowing that they are only moments away from their child (http://www.rmhc.org.uk/what-we-do/).
Sharing Sweet Thoughts
This year’s stamp set is gorgeous and coordinates with our Jar of Love set and Everyday Jar framelits. Do you like this card? I think it’s so pretty and the ladies agree too! When making cards in bulk it’s a good idea to create simple, one or 2 layer cards that can be made quickly and easily but are still stylish! I loved our Birthday Wishes Charity Challenge class and so did all my customers, we can’t wait for the Christmas edition!
If you want to support this charity and make this card at home, I recommend you purchase the stamp set and the matching framelits. You can purchase them from me by clicking this link or one of the product images below. Can we do more? Will you spread the joy of a simple handmade card given to someone with love? Could we help this amazing charity do more for families in need? I think we can! Who’s with me? Right, I’m off to make some more cards for my July birthdays! Have a great day and thanks for being here.
