Stamp Out Cancer

Stamp Out Cancer with 1500 Cards and £1500 Cash!  That was our goal when I came up with the crazy idea back in July 2019. This madcap idea came to me one day in class and I just blurted it out. Before I knew it, it had grown a life of its own and we were booking the hall and organising the designs!

1500 hand made cards in ONE DAY

10 different card designs, 4000 pieces of card and paper cut and prepped, metres of ribbon later, 8 1/2 hours of prep, 12 hours of making, 22 people, tea, coffee, sandwiches and a whole lot of cake later! Here are my designers in crime who helped me stay sane during the whole run-up to the event and during the day itself! The wonderful Deb Cooper & Allison Rushin! Thank you, ladies! I really couldn’t have done this without you!

During the day, we did have moments when we doubted we would do it! Look at all of my fabulous customers and team who came along, paying to be there and helped us stamp on the day!

WE ACHIEVED IT!

We smashed it! 1,500 cards packed and off to the 3 charities. Plus, after minimal costs, we raised over £1,750! WOW, I can’t believe how well we did. So why did we do it? Read on for the why and also for the thank yous to everyone who supported us!

Why These Charities?

15 years ago my sister died of Breast Cancer. She was a vibrant person, with 3 beautiful children and a loving husband. It’s fair to say she touched many lives during her illness and her life.

Her attitude was not “why me” but rather “why not me?” rather me than someone else!

Since she was diagnosed I’ve raised over £3,000 through card making, card sales and having my ex-company logo dyed into my hair! I’ve continued to support various charities while building my own crafting business. This year, on the 15th anniversary of her moving into better digs, I decided I wanted to do something else, something more, something bigger! So why not a crazy stampathon making masses of cards for onwards sale and raising money too if we could! She would have thoroughly enjoyed attending an event like this. She probably thinks we’re mad as she looks down on our antics! I know, however, she approves!

Who Benefits From This Event?

I chose 3 charities that mean a lot to me and the local community. Rachel lived close to here and she was treated at St Luke’s in the Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity. My local hospital is also building a new Breast Care Centre and need lots of fixtures and fittings, so Frimley Health Charity is raising money for that. Lastly, my go-to charity is Breast Cancer Now who merged with Breast Cancer Care earlier this year and now provides both Research and Support to people all over the UK. Therefore all the money raised after our minimal costs will go to these 3 brilliant charities. :

The cards we donated to these charities are all compliant with Stampin’ Up!’s Angel Policy so they can be sold to raise even more cash for the charity!

Deb, Allison and I had fun sporting the different tee-shirts on the day too! We couldn’t keep a straight face when we were doing the back view ones!!

We got through a mountain of products, here were just a FEW of the adhesives we used on the day!

And a HUGE thanks to everyone for chipping in when we ran out!!!

Also, thanks to those who stayed to the bitter end and helped us tidy up, and for my amazing hubby who came and made sure we left the place spick & span!
