Showcasing Falling Flowers

Colouring the Falling Flowers Stamp Set

It’s Jay here with another creative share, a card idea colouring the Falling Flowers stamp set. Are you falling in love with this retiring stamp set again like I am?
As you know, Barry and I are making the most of our retiring stamp sets before June. So I made 3 cards with the Falling Flowers when I created my Design Team card idea for Paper Craft Crew last month. You can see that project HERE
For this card I wanted a simple but elegant design. I focused on the leaves design instead of the flowers to show versatility of the Falling Flowers stamp set. And here is my card…

Colouring the Falling Flowers with Stampin’ Blends

I enjoyed colouring the Falling Flowers stamp set again for this card. The stamped leaves were coloured with the Granny Apple Green Combo. I tend to start with the dark colour first for the shadows then move on to the light shades. This is because I have noticed that the true dark colour of the blends will show on the card more as it’s not saturated with the lighter colour. Thus giving more contrast between the light and dark blends

The coloured image pops out of the card even more with the help of the Basic Black Watercolor Pencil. I enhanced the shadows with the colouring pencil for more contrast. I also traced around the outline of the image but on the left side only. If you imagine where a light source would be on your image, you can then add shadows on the opposite side of that. Or just simply outline around the whole image for an overhead light source.

The big ‘love’ die cut sentiment comes from Sunshine Wishes Dies. This set comes with 3 other sentiment and 3 die cut images so there are 7 dies in total in this set. Sadly, the Sunshine Wishes Dies are retiring in June too. It is still available but only while stock last!
