By Royal Appointment: A Little Bird Told Me

Like what you see?

It’s Monday, it’s time for By Royal Appointment and today “A little bird told me” is the theme! I wonder what that can mean?

Each week I feature one of my wonderful team of Royal Stampers, all Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who love to share their creativity with others. I love seeing what they create and I wanted to share it with you all too, so, each week I will be welcoming a different designer from our amazing team.

This week our guest designer is Sue from Hailsham in East Sussex. You can see her original post here and see lots more of the beautiful creations she makes and teaches.

A little bird told me

I thought I would share the really pretty cards we made in our June class in Hailsham. We used the Free as a Bird Bundle which includes the stamp set and label dies and supplemented it with the Hugs from Shelli kit which has coordinating stamps. It was a real winner, with a couple of the ladies purchasing the products so that they could continue to make lovely designs at home.

Versatility Built In

The versatility of the set meant that we created feminine and masculine cards easily. By colouring the bird in red and brown it would make a convincing robin for Christmas. We are planning to try although none of us could face tackling the Christmas crafting just yet, we want to enjoy the summer first!!

The Crackle Paint stamp makes a great background effect on the blue card. We used the Stamparatus to ensure a crisp complete image. Because when using large images there is a tendency not to apply even pressure across such a big surface area. This gives a patchy image, and an impossible task to realign the stamp to fill in the gaps, especially as it is a Cling Stamp so not see-through. By using the Stamparatus any missed areas of the image could be perfectly reapplied as the image remains impeccably static and it is easy to ensure complete coverage in this way.

Multiple Uses

We all agreed that this stamp set is a ‘go to’ staple for any occasion. The Stitched Nested Labels were easy to use and created a lovely shape and interest in the layers of the card. With the other lovely stitched dies this makes a great addition especially as it includes such a wide range of sizes. These are so useful in any craft kit. Ladies at the class also felt that they would make great labels folded over bagged items for sale at Summer Fairs and Christmas Bazaars. We agreed that recently Stampin’ Up has not had many options for this.
