I’m always looking for quick and easy cards that have a great impact. A really easy watercolour effect is to use a stamp set that’s designed to look like watercolouring! I know that sounds too easy doesn’t it, but have a look at Beautiful Friendship. It’s a great new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and combines the creativity of watercolouring with the ease of stamping. As a result, you get beautiful cards that look like you’ve painted them.

The colours just pop even though it’s a subtle look. Using the dark Pretty Peacock really lifts the piece visually. You can mix the colours up to be soft or vibrant, or even a mixture of both. Play around with the colours in your craft room. Try out just the subtles then the bolder colours, see which you prefer and how you would mix them! I bet you’d be surprised at the variety of cards you can come up with.

Is this just for female cards?

While you might think this is a stamp set dedicated to women, you’d be wrong. Men are great gardeners. Look at Monty Don! So, why wouldn’t you use it to create a card for your garden loving fellas? You can see my example in the video. I think we underestimate how our cards can work for the men in our life, and this set is surprisingly helpful. You could just use the sentiments, I don’t think the fonts are girly and could be used for a bold, font only card. Matching the leaves with the leaves on Layered Leaves embossing folder also gives opportunities for men’s cards.Don’t dismiss this set out of hand as a “female” stamp set, you’d be wrong!
