How to start making cards

First off you need some card! So, for these fun cards, I recommend using our Brights range on cardstock.
They coordinate perfectly with our watercolor pencils (assortment 2). You get 4 that match and 6 others that will also coordinate. On the other hand, if you prefer a darker colour palette, the same pencils would also work with our Regals range.
For stamping, you will need some Basic White card and Memento Black Ink. This gives you that crisp, stamped image and a great base for colouring in. We will start with black outline images. But in future posts I will talk more about our coloured inks and how you can incorporate them.

Measurements for card making

Cute Snailed It stamp is great for beginner card makers.

Let’s look at those measurements again. Right, A4 card is weird, it is not a full cm long, subsequently, a lot of people get confused. Thankfully it’s easy to cope with. This is how I cut my card:

  • Put the long edge to the top of your trimmer.
  • Cut at 14.9 cm (just one notch before the 15 cm mark)
  • Turn your card 90 degrees and score at 10.5 cm

That is your basic card base for everything! It’s called an A6 card size here in the UK. Want an easy card sizing guide to save and print off? Good job I have just the thing for you. My guide has mats & layers, as well as A5 card sizings and more! Sign up for my mailing list and grab your Card Sizing Guide from me for FREE! After that, you’ll be cutting like a pro!
