Memories of My Nana
Glitter and Glamour always remind me of my Nana. She was a character! Born in South East London, I remember her never going out without her hair done, face powdered and lipstick on! Proper heels and fashionable coats. Always with a sparkly piece of jewellery, normally in the form of a brooch!
Born in 1908 she survived both world wars and made it to the ripe old age of 86 with a wicked sense of humour and a glint in her eye when we would go out for tea and cake (with maybe an ice cream on the side!) She’d worked in London and Toronto, lived in California and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. To me Nana was glamour and we have some wonderful photos of her as a flapper and in her long swimsuit on Brighton beach! These vases remind me of her, slimline, slightly rounded, and very Art Deco! Also, the colours are just her too, soft pink and greys. Very tasteful, although her lipstick would be bright!
How To Make It
It’s a really simple card to make. You need the Basket of Blooms stamp set, some Peony Garden papers and a pair of Paper Snips Scissors. Then with some simple stamping and cutting you can make pretty cards like this!

You need a Basic White card base, a Smoky Slate layer, and another piece of Basic White card. Use a strip of the Designer Series Paper and also 3 different pieces of paper for the vases.
Firstly, stamp the Vase images on the different papers and cut out with your Paper Snips. Then stamp the flowers in various colours & punch out with the Small Bloom Punch to ensure perfect outlines.
Next, you’ll also need to stamp one vase onto a Post-It note and cut that out. You use it as a mask on the white card so you can stamp the leaves in. I added some extra leaves as well to poke out behind the flowers. Consequently, they give a nice green backdrop to the petals.
Finally, add some Glitter and Glamour by adding some Wink of Stella and a Rhinestone in the centre of each flower. I think my Nana would love this card. I hope you do too!

Now, don’t forget to check out the rest of the girls Hops and see what they’ve shared with us. I bet there is a lot of Glitter and Glamour!

What a lovely memory of your Nana Pip and such a beautiful card. The card conjures up a wonderful picture of your memory of her – elegant with glitter and glamour. Perfect for scrapbook or frame.
Thank you so much Joan – I’m glad you like it & yes it’s a great reminder of my Nana xx
I love it! What a great project! My Grandma always wore a brooch too. When I was little there was one I particularly loved and had the cheek to ask “Grandma? When you die, can I have that?” Yikes! Inappropriate from a young age, me! … but I do own that brooch and treasure it.
Love the card and love the memories it has conjured up for you, she sounds an amazing lady x
What fabulous memories of your Nana Pip. I love how the shape of the vase reminded you of her figure and elegance and your paper choice is perfectly elegant for this beautiful card. Wonderful cherished memories wrapped up in a beautiful card. I love it x
